For the Love of Eilistraee: The Acquisition of Moon Prism

A Tome about Moon Prism - Jewel

I remember when the promotional photos dropped for Moon Prism and I could not breathe (am I over exaggerating? Am I? You’ll never know 😜). The pale shimmering purple with a rainbow sheen and silver paint was stunning. The jewel set design? Much desired. Perfect 20/10 no notes. It simply had to be my first set intentionally purchased for my Tiefling cleric of Eilistraee. Ariamine sat behind my eyes, tail swishing to and fro, staring out at them longingly. And so I waited patiently (Ari not so much) till the Black Friday drop, determined to acquire this as my very first Dispel set.

Thanksgiving Day, 2025. I sit stuffed with good food and good drink in a friend’s dining room. The afternoon had passed with good company, annual sensory overwhelm, and now finally the party has split, the lads outside to enjoy cigars and whiskey, the gals inside watching. . . I don’t remember honestly. Heart beating hard, nervous system alight with anticipation, I awaited, code copied and readied to be pasted the exact second I could enter the Discord early access to the drop.

Only to be foiled by corrupt codes that simply would not allow the much desired discount.

It took an eternity and a day of nervous sweating and heart palpitations. Surely, Moon Prism would go so fast and I would miss my opportunity to acquire the beautiful moon gems. Oh please, Eilistraee, please leave a set for me (hey! I know I’m being dramatic, Benny wants the story to be exciting, okay?)! But eventually the Dispel team came to the rescue, Sarah the sweet herald of good news after her endless patience of listening to us all cry “IT’S NOT WORKING!!” for a solid 40 minutes.

At last, they sit in my cart. At last, the discount appears. At last, I press BUY!! I return to the Friendsgiving festivities as though nothing had happened. My friends none the wiser I had acquired the most beautiful dice ever designed (well. I was new to Dispel. There were a loooot of stunning dice to be discovered).

Then the wait comes. I did not realize how long it would take, stress mounting each day my inbox remained empty of the news they had been shipped, but I was reassured by Discord compatriots that this was all according to plan. And so I rested.

Arrival day. I rush to the mailbox utterly beside myself, gingerly take the package in hand, and rush back to my apartment to tear open the packaging. I am spellbound. Charmed. Stunned. They are everything. I promptly pull them free of their foamy constraints and let them roll in my hand. Perfection. I post excitedly to the group and someone says Dispel should give me a complimentary D20 as it is my first set.

I look back at my dice in confusion. Stare. Study. I had failed all previous perception and insight checks to realize jewel sets were not the Traditional Seven (guys, I was bleach blonde as a kid and my ‘tism will pick up details others miss, but then I will miss the most obvious things right under my nose 😭).

I do not care. I have finally acquired a jewel set and it was my beautiful Moon Prism. I pass off the damage dice to my sweet Ari, my first Dispel set to my first DnD character, who dances joyfully beneath the moonlight in gratitude, and it is a beautiful sight to behold 🌙
